Brayden is the son of the California Chapter President.
Rebel is the Alabama Chapter’s club princess and off-limits to any man wearing a patch.

There’s been conflict between Cole and Shades since Shades was a lowly prospect trying to earn his patch. Now, two decades later, they still have their differences.

When a club funeral brings the California chapter to town to pay their respects, Rebel catches Brayden’s eye, and it brings on an MC family feud with the two lovers caught in the middle.

But Brayden and Rebel are soul mates, and they’ll be damned if anyone will keep them apart.

• MY REVIEW •

“Loving you is the easy part. The rest we’ll figure out.”

INACTIVE- — Megan Fox GIF Post

I’m calling it— Brayden is my favourite MMC from the Evil Dead MC second generation! He went from someone who, I’m embarrassed to admit wasn’t even on my radar, to someone who ended up having my undivided attention.

And now? I 👏WANT 👏MORE OF 👏BRAYDEN! 🤭

A Romeo and Juliet inspired forbidden romance? Hell yeah! James has written another easy-going romance read that I positively devoured in one go. It gave me the feels. I felt for the characters’ predicament so much so, that I was on the edge of my seat anxious to see how it would all turn out for Brayden and Rebel.

It’s fast-paced yet punchy, gripping, and sated my swooning, romance-loving heart. Not as in-depth as I would’ve liked, but having already read (and loved) the Evil Dead MC first-gen series, it helped fill backstories amongst the MC brothers and their families. If you haven’t read them, you can absolutely dive-in before or even after reading Brayden.

But what a full-circle moment Brayden brings to the original Evil Dead MC! Reading this one gave me such nostalgia that I reread Outlaw, Crash, and Shades because I wasn’t ready to close the book (no pun intended) on Cole and Angel, and Shades and Skylar just yet. Even seeing character crossover from the original series to this next one was an epic sight to see. Although, I don’t think I’ll ever accept that any of the first-gen brothers have aged. 🙈🤭

In all seriousness, this story is a prime example of the premise of this next gen series— Brayden and Rebel being forced to tackle the repercussions of their fathers (and the club’s) wrongdoings.

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this in any of my previous reviews for the second-gen books, but Green is surprising me more and more with the role he has played in the lives of the next-gen characters. I’m loving it, and I’m loving that as established a character that he already is, he still seems to be growing and evolving as a character. He’s one secondary character that was an unexpected yet welcomed support system. He’s come a long way from the initial comic relief of the group.

Rebel is probably my favourite second-gen FMC too. She’s just so damn likable that I was all-in with her and Brayden’s story from the get-go. There’s also just the right number of intimate scenes included with fairly mid-level spice. It’s the build-up between Brayden and Rebel that really had me thirsting. 🤤

An MC-lite, forbidden romance story with a smidge of action and suspense here and there. Just enough to keep you on your toes. I’ve loved the initial world-building created and this next-gen series has expanded it by introducing new characters and fresh club business. Brotherhood has always been a solid element in James’ MC books and it’s one of the elements I always look forward to seeing. With the addition of Brayden, I got to see just as much of the familial dynamics and friendships as the romantic relationship. The banter is always an instant mood-booster especially when tensions are high. But I also liked seeing that all joking aside, Brayden and his brother, albeit complex, have quite a bond.

Although it’s an overall light-hearted MC romance, this story does contain sensitive themes that some readers may find triggering. It broaches on death, addiction/substance abuse, and depression. Just take into consideration before starting it.

Brayden and Rebel go through a rollercoaster, and I’ll most likely be in the minority, but I wasn’t completely content with how their biggest predicament was settled, but I can’t say I was at all surprised either. Nevertheless, with a whirlwind romance full of drama, angst, and longing, they are an amazing pair. Despite their relationship growing serious relatively fast, at the same time there was a genuine connection present that developed organically due to the fortuitous circumstances they found themselves in. I wished their book was longer as I truly enjoyed reading their story all too much.

Total comfort read. Effortless to follow. Great fictional escapism with an incredibly entertaining cast of characters. As an international reader (outside of the US audience), I was transported to vivid settings without having to step outside my front door. The book also concludes on a juicy little teaser for the next story in the series that had me perking up with anticipation.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½

“He’s my knight. He’s my everything.”

My addictions, attractions & fantasies

Three for three! 🙌 This series gets better and better as more couples join the ranks. I thought Melissa and Billy had one hell of a story, but Gigi and TJ just elevated the entire EDMC second gen! I think, like many others who love the Evil Dead MC initially guessed (and possibly even hoped) that TJ would end up with one of the club’s princesses, but that notion quickly fizzled out for me and I perked up at the idea of Gigi—especially after having discovered she’s the daughter of Jameson, from the Brothers Ink Tattoo series. It was exciting seeing the crossover, and seeing the O’Rourke brothers again just brought a sense of nostalgia.

I wished this book was longer, as it was such a page-turner. I loved the instant attraction and chemistry between Gigi and TJ, but appreciate that it wasn’t such a straight road to their HEA either.

It has some cool MC elements, but it’s definitely more romance focused (which, I don’t mind in the least). Having read quite a few of James’ books over the years—some from different sub-genres, I can tell you now the writing’s always been appealing, and this story’s premise absolutely delivered. It’s told from multiple POVs, yet effortless to follow nonetheless.

There are a few twists and turns— some predictable, some I hadn’t expected, but at the end of the day, it was a romance read I was thoroughly immersed in. I recommend reading EDMC’s Outlaw and Brothers Ink Tattoo’s Jameson, if you haven’t already. It’s not essential but it would be one hell of an in-depth world-building if you do. Not only will you discover the backstories of Gigi’s parents and TJ’s parents, but you’ll also get an insight into the worlds they both grew up in. Although they have a contrasting upbringing, Gigi and TJ have a genuine, organic dynamic between them that I couldn’t get enough of seeing. Their relationship was on the side of the insta-love romance trope with how fast things developed between them, but I honestly didn’t care as they were such likable characters.

I quickly realised each couple’s HEA in this series are more so the beginning of their lives together rather than the end, which I’m more than okay with. It leaves room for imagination, or even expansion if James ever wanted to go back to a couple’s journey.

It’s satisfyingly action-packed with a little bit of suspenseful thrown in. But also tons of spicy sexual content that’ll have your face heating up as you read them. 🤭

I adore the group dynamics amongst the MC. Whenever I read one of James’ MC romances, I’m always grinning at the genuine friendships and brotherhood amongst the cast of characters. The loyalty, the camaraderie, and the banter are ever-present. It totally lightens up the atmosphere.

Although it’s an altogether light-hearted MC romance, it does contain sensitive subject matters than may be triggering or disturbing for some readers. In contains strong violence, kidnapping/ hostage situations, and abuse. It’s intended for readers 18+ only.

All in all, I was left in happy contentment. I’m loving this second gen series, and it’s been amazing seeing the world expand with new couples. It also was a highlight seeing the original MC brothers (albeit older) make an appearance. It can easily be read in one sitting, and will leave you amped up with anticipation for the next one. I’m already counting down the days.

If you like heroic bad-boy bikers, spunky, dreamy heroines, and red-hot hook-ups wrapped up in all kinds of trouble, then add this one to your TBR.

“I want the moon and the stars for you.”

“I want that for you too.”

YASSS! Billy is exactly what I was expecting from an Evil Dead MC spin-off. James has effortlessly incorporated the first generation with the next that I am giddy for the following books to come in this series!

This storyline had so many tropes and elements that I didn’t want to put it down. I was totally hooked! Melissa and Billy brought a ton of spark and a desperate longing for one another that elevated my eagerness in seeing their relationship take that ultimate romantic step faster.

✔ Forbidden Romance

✔ Secret Crush

✔ Friends-To-Lovers

✔ Slow-Burn Romance

✔ Instant Attraction

✔ Angst

There was a perfect mix of romance and suspenseful MC elements throughout. The coinciding plotlines of Billy and Melissa’s evolving relationship, and Billy’s commitment and loyalty to his club made it a weighty romance read. James included some emotional scenes that I hadn’t expected to tear-up reading this book, but I did. I SO DID.

*squeeeeee* If you’re a fan of the OG series; Evil Dead MC, then you know Billy and Melissa were a long time coming… and after reading their story, I can say with absolute surety that it’s well worth the wait. It almost felt like coming full circle with the Evil Dead MC characters not only making an appearance but playing pivotal roles in both Billy and Melissa’s lives.

From Cole to Crash, to Red Dog, Wolf, and Green. To their wives and even certain blasts from the pasts had me reeling. Complete lightbulb moments that totally elevated my already enjoyable reading experience. The world-building is beautifully done. James has taken the Evil Dead MC world and branched it out, introducing more of the outside world to their dangerous one. I like the contrast. Seeing Melissa outside of her upbringing and into a whole new setting added a nice change of scene.

Although it’s an MC romance, the level of darkness and grit are on the milder side. However, there are certain sensitive plot points that may be triggering for some readers. It deals with unwanted sexual advances, stalking, kidnapping, and includes violence. There are also minor backstories that broaches on health (specifically dealing with cancer), as well as infidelity. (Both life events occurred off-page).

It’s a relatively quick read yet well-paced storytelling. Billy and Melissa are truly likable leading characters. With their deep-rooted history, there was a real sense of genuineness to their evolving relationship from childhood friends to lovers. A little action and suspense. A little sizzle and spice. All good things, all good things.

This book also segues to the next one in line and I’m already counting down the days until I get to read it. I’m really enjoying seeing James intertwine her past MC books and characters, and even from another book series into this new series. There is an array of layers because of it, and it definitely has me wanting to reread those books. But if you’re new to James’ writing, the books in this series all read as standalone stories. You don’t have to have read Evil Dead MC prior to starting this one, but I do highly recommend it for extensive knowledge of relationships present and for an overall fuller reading experience.

All in all, I loved it. I’m still wrapping my head around Billy and Melissa all grown and falling in love, but their HEA was bliss to witness! The ups and downs, the secrecy, the unpredictability, along with the strong familial bonds and friendships that James is so good at incorporating into her books makes this one addictive, paging turning read!

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½

Rocker Charlotte Justice longs to escape her hectic life. Her estranged twin sister, Scarlett, owns Badlands, a biker bar outside Vegas, and has always wanted a chance at the limelight she feels was stolen from her.

On a whim, they decide to switch places like they did when they were kids.

What harm could it do?

Charlotte had no idea that the escape she planned would leave her on the receiving end of creepy texts, phone calls and “gifts” left at her door. Flying blind in her new role, pretending to be someone she’s not, Charlotte learns more about her secretive sister than she ever imagined.

On top of all of that, she’s doing everything she can to escape the sexy-as-sin MC President demanding she pay back the debt she owes him–that or sell him the bar.

Could the person stalking her also be the President of the Evil Dead MC’s Las Vegas Chapter? An alpha male who’s come-on to her in a won’t-take-no-for-an-answer kind of way that has her wondering just how badly she wants to say no.

Does he want Badlands badly enough to scare her into selling out?

Or is he the only one who can save her from a madman?

Charlotte will have to solve the mystery if she’s going to save the bar, and possibly her very life.

“For a girl like you, I’m willin’ to put in the effort.”

I’m flailing my arms in excitement and in desperation of the next book! Eeeep! Nicole James has smashed it again! See, this is why she is an auto-buy author of mine. She never fails at keeping her readers engaged with her stories and invested in her characters— and this little reader right here was hooked from the second Charlotte and her twin sister Scarlett started swapping clothes and spontaneously decided to temporarily trade lives!

KateUpton_Fans

Nicole has plenty of books under her belt and all the ones I’ve read so far have had some pretty amazing storylines. This one stood out with its intriguing premise. It’s a trading places storyline weaved into a light MC romance. It has a more contemporary romance feel in comparison to Nicole’s other MC romance books. With its small town setting, the world-building heavily revolves around the protagonists, Charlotte and Daytona. There was an immediate connection between the two that automatically had me sitting up in attention. Despite some serious tension and danger in the air, the story still had an overall light atmosphere to it.

Similarly to Nicole’s other books, this one had plenty of heated banter between its hero and heroine, alongside some lighthearted comic-relief ribbing courtesy of the secondary characters— who so happens to be the brothers from the bright and shiny new Evil Dead MC Las Vegas Chapter! 😍😍

If you’ve read her Evil Dead MC series, then the introduction of a brand, spankin’ new Chapter would make your eyes pop-out-of-its-socket giddy! It practically means new blood, and I for one, am all for it!

Daytona is the President of this chapter but right off the bat I discovered he’s different from the other Evil Dead MC Chapter Presidents. He may be a badass alpha biker, but he’s openly affectionate, straightforward, and doesn’t play games. He knows what he wants, and it’s evident when he first lays eyes on Charlotte.

Charlotte is rightfully skeptical of Daytona and his motives, especially considering she’s currently living life as her sister. I would’ve loved to have seen more character development from both (especially Charlotte) but with how the story played out and especially how this book concluded, I’m hoping there’s a lot more to reveal in the next book.

The story is told from first person, dual points of view, and progressed in a relatively fast-pacing. There’s a lot of things happening that’ll keep you on your toes. It’s insta-romance with a layer of crime thriller added. There’s lots of suspense and second-guessing that it was hard to predict where the story would lead.

Please note, there are certain sensitive subject matters within the story that may be triggering for some readers. Besides the mature sexual content, it also contains violence, stalking, and kidnapping. This book is for mature audiences 18+ only.

The romance elements are swoony and had just the perfect amount of sweetness. It might have been on the insta-love side as far as romantic relationships go but it wasn’t at all unconvincing. They may have gotten together relatively quickly but there’s genuine interest in getting to know each other in more depth. You get Daytona’s backstory and an understanding of his mentality and how he lives his life. And with the arrival of this new Evil Dead MC Chapter, I was instantly curious about all the new club members who were introduced right alongside Daytona in this book. They may have only had minor roles in this story but they definitely made quite an impression! 😊

It’s a relatively shorter full-length novel but it was jam-packed full of detail and dimension, and the story didn’t stray away from its initial narrative. Nicole created a vivid world that I was effortlessly transported to. These characters go through a whirlwind of emotions and a rollercoaster of drama that you can’t help but sympathize. Even though this is fictional and some of the plots are dramatized, the situations that Charlotte and Daytona find themselves in are real-life, relatable experiences. Their lives are complex and their feelings are understandable and seem realistic.

Overall, I found it to be a hearty story and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. There was constant buzz and build-up throughout that it was hard not to be gripped by it all. I was truly bummed to see it end and knowing I’d have to wait a little while for the release of book two. It ends on a cliffhanger but I’m relieved to see it concluded in a way where this particular part of Charlotte’s and Daytona’s story was somewhat settled…? Their relationship may be up in the air for the time being but the cat’s outta the bag and now we’ll just have to see how it all plays out from there. *dun dun duuuuun* Eeep.

If you enjoy reading about alpha heroes who have a gentlemanly side to them, and fiery heroines with backbone, then I recommend you give this one a try.

Definitely a must read for any Nicole James fan. I think this story is a great introduction for romance readers wanting to try MC romance books— whilst it certainly contains MC romance elements, it’s not completely MC heavy. It’s also technically an age-gap romance but it’s hardly noticeable, in my opinion.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ramona knows pain and she wears it behind a perfectly made-up mask of laughter, sass and a personality that makes most men weak at the knees.

Emphasis on most men.

Because there happens to be one man her charm doesn’t work on…Adan.

Member of the gorgeous biker club who took over the garage next to her best friend Eve’s café. Oh, and there’s one more tiny little thing…he’s now her patient.

After suffering burns in a fire, Adan lost the ability to use not one, but both of his hands. Enter Ramona. Registered nurse on her first job since completing her degree. And of course she’s put with the gorgeous, grumpy, rough biker who wants nothing more than for her to leave him the hell alone.

But, alas, she simply cannot.

Stuck together, there is nothing Ramona can do…except her job.

The problem is Adan is making her job very difficult. Not only does he live like he’s running a brothel, but the man refuses to do anything she asks him. He’s irritated and barely speaks, and when he does speak, it’s usually to insult her.

Not going down without a fight, Ramona does everything she can to keep her spirits high, including tormenting the poor man at every chance she gets. She’ll get him to laugh before her time with him is over.

Adan will like her.

And she will complete this job with a glowing review.

Not matter the cost.
No matter the game.

He’ll get a Heart-On for her…and she’ll make damned sure of it.

• MY REVIEW •

Ooo Wee! This was a such an improvement from the first book! So, so much more gripping and hits you in the feels! 😍 I can’t help but think Bella has gone through the reviews for Biker Schmiker and made some tweaks to ensure Heart-On would be better perceived. And boy, just like that, she has made this series loads more exciting now!

OohLala

The lightheartedness is still very much present. The contemporary romance aspect is still more prominent than the MC element but it’s still a swoon-worthy MC romance story! Just like in the previous book, this one had plenty of entertaining banter between the protagonists. You get a snippet of their chemistry in Biker Schmiker but by the start of this book, that chemistry has turned electric due to Ramona’s and Adan’s forced proximity.

First off — the premise was intriguing as hell. After Adan gets caught up in a freak accident involving arson resulting in his hands being badly burnt and now in need of constant medical care, in comes Ramona, a newly licensed nurse, and her first job? Yep, being Adan’s personal home care nurse! *mic drop*

The heated exchange from these two were on a level a smidge more entertaining to see than Eve and Riggs (not going lie). They butt heads, are constantly challenging one another and throughout it all they battle the sexual tension between them.

Similarly to Riggs in Biker Schmiker, Adan is a bit of womanizer. He’s not a complete manwhore but he’s definitely indecisive when it comes to who he wants. There’s a bit of love triangle going on here. Some angst. Some drama. And, most certainly some racy scenes!

Please note: It contains violence and sexual content suitable for readers 18+ only!

This book also contains cheating. If you have issues with this matter in your romance stories, then you might want to give this one a miss.

Whilst I enjoyed Ramona’s and Adan’s story a lot, there were some questionable decisions made and situations that had my eyebrows raising and my jaw dropping with disbelief. But don’t get me wrong, it’s all to do with the fact that I got so invested in their story. It was a rollercoaster ride that had me on the edge of my seat eager to see what would happen next because I can tell ya… bomb after bomb just kept on dropping! 😱

Another relatively quick read. I wished it was longer, but on the other hand I like the fact the Bella is consistent in keeping each book in this series a certain length. They’re short but action-packed, full of suspense, and the romantic elements will have you hooked. There’s also a secondary story or two happening simultaneously that adds dimension to Ramona’s and Adan’s story and enhances the world-building.

The rest of the MC members are back to add more fun to this already light, romcom-ish story, and you get to see appearances from Eve and Riggs from the first book too! This may only be the second book in the series but I already adore the friendships and the extra oomph they bring into each story.

I love that with each new couple we get to know a bit about more about their backstory and see their character growth further. Ramona is an in-your-face, independent, and fiery heroine. She’s loud, proud, and confident. Adan is man who’s not only a badass biker, but who knows his strengths. He’s cocky and arrogant at times but in a easy-going funny way that makes you giggle. His inability to read women—or should I say Ramona was a hilarious bonus to see!

They have a quirky hate/love relationship going on there, but somewhat of a caring friendship has formed too where they got to know each other on a deeper level. I thought their emotions were relatable and realistic, and the frustration and second-guessing from Ramona was totally spot-on for the situation she found herself in with Adan.

Ugh. Such a fun read that I will undoubtedly reread over an over whenever I’m in need of a mood-booster! I highly recommend this book, and whilst it can be read as a standalone I would still recommend you start with the first one as the characters are linked and some of the context included do lead up to the next story in the series. You’ll also have a better understanding of how the characters interconnect and the level of their relationships.

If you enjoy hate-to-love romances that have an element of game-playing between the protagonists, then give this one try. The MC element is there but it’s more contemporary romance. It’s well paced, and like the first book, told solely from the heroine’s point of view. Whilst I would’ve liked to have Adan’s as well, in comparison to the first book, the hero’s POV wasn’t as strongly needed in this one. It’s character driven as the majority of the story revolves around Ramona’s feelings and perspective.

It had so many elements I so truly hoped to find in my romance books:

  • Hate-to-love/ Enemies-to-lovers
  • Romantic Comedy
  • MC Romance
  • Suspense
  • Interesting world-building
  • Gripping storyline
  • Lovable characters

The world-building has expanded a smidge more by introducing Ramona into these bikers world. And with Ramona and Eve already being friends, a nice little girl club has formed as a strong counterpart to the club. Overall, it left me wanting more and excited to read the next book with the next swoon-worthy couple to be! Another amazing read from Bella Jewel!

He’s married and twice my age, but I can’t walk away.

Murder—
We were never supposed to happen. Alexa’s my daughter’s best friend. I’m a married man. I’m too old for her, but stolen glances turn into more than either of us are prepared for. I’ve made promises I can’t keep. I’m the Prez of Royal Bastards MC. I’m not supposed to be tempted by her innocence. My head swears that I don’t love her, but my heart won’t let go.

Alexa—
Murder’s married. Off Limits. But I want him. He’s a powerful man. Untouchable and unbreakable. I’ll be his dirty little secret. No one has to know. We’re playing a dangerous game. A deadly one that will leave me with a broken heart or worse, but I’ll do anything to prove to him that what we share is a ride or die love. And for Murder, I’m willing to risk it all.

Tempting The Biker is part of the Royal Bastards MC world.

Oh. My. Goodness.

My fave book so far by Glenna Maynard! I haven’t read very many (yet) but yes, this book gave me a roller coaster of emotions that I always love to experience in my reads.

I had trouble putting this book down. You already get a taste of Alexa and Murder’s relationship from the previous book in the series, so I couldn’t help but have that sense of anticipation to see where it all began.

It does not disappoint! Their story is told from dual POVs and spans over almost 20 years of their lives.

“Would give you the world if I could.”

TVD_CarolineKlaus_AlmostKiss

And without a doubt, this book shone a light on Alexa that you would never have expected — especially based on how she was portrayed in Lady & The Biker (book two). I couldn’t get enough of seeing Alexa’s growth from adolescence to adulthood. In my opinion, she has one of the best character developments I’ve read in a long time. The horrific, tragic events she’s had throughout her life is unbelievably heartwrenching and at times hard to read about. What got me is how constant these events were for her. The girl just couldn’t catch a break, and you can’t help but sympathize and fully understand when she loses it and breaks down or even lashes out.

(Please Note: This book contains sensitive subject matter that may be triggering to some readers. It contains kidnapping, sexual assault, physical abuse, violence, drug use, and adultery).

TVD_CarolineVent2

If I was going to base my opinion of Alexa only what I’ve read in Lady & The Biker, then I would’ve completely based it on the damaged, broken Alexa. This book not only reveals Alexa in her entirety but it shows how much she’s evolved from the young, carefree teenager that she was when she was first introduced. If I hadn’t read this book, I most likely would not have liked Alexa as a character as much as I do now. She goes through the ringer, yes, she makes a lot of stupid decisions — and you will definitely won’t agree with her every single time… but damn if she isn’t also a person of strength and willpower (in her own way).

Murder isn’t a bad guy… per se. He’s actually quite caring and protective. But I’m also not going to sugarcoat when I say that you’ll find yourself cussing his ass out one too many a times reading this. You’ll question what the hell Alexa sees in him? Why she won’t let go? And for the love of the book gods why she can’t just suckerpunch him in the nutsack!!? But you know what? Just like me, you’ll have to read it, let the story soak in for a few days or so, and realize that what’s meant to be, will be. 😜

I know this book is technically both Alexa and Murder’s story but in my opinion, Alexa will hold your attention just a smidge more (and deservingly so). I appreciate and am thankful that Maynard decided to write their story because their journey is one unforgettable uphill battle of proportions that is so worth experiencing.

There’s a lot of push and pull and a constant merry-go-around to their relationship that’s honestly frustration galore! But no matter how many times they move one step forward only to be shoved five steps back, you will be clinging to hope that things would somehow miraculously work out between them.

“I don’t hate you. Sometimes I wish I could. I want you to find happiness. It’s just not going to be with me.”

TVD_CarolineKlaus_GlareOff

This was a slow and steady paced storytelling, switching back and forth from our hero and heroine’s POVs. As I mentioned earlier, their story spans almost 20 years of their lives but for the majority of the book, it’s told from the earlier years of their complicated relationship.

I’ve said this countless of times in previous reviews — I love me some MC romances and I like to think I’m not overly picky as long as there’s great chemistry between the protagonists and some storyline. But when you come across one that has such world-building, such contrast between the characters and a constast flow of development and character growth, then it goes without saying, it stands out from the crowd. This book is one of those!

I thought it was amazingly written, the atmosphere envelops you in, making you feel like you’re going through their crazy journey with them. Throughout the highs and lows, the struggles, heartbreaks, and the fleeting happy moments they manage to share in between.

“I don’t want the world. I only wanna live in yours.”

TVD_CarolineKlaus_Kiss

Ugh. A truly spellbinding storytelling of second chances and never taking things for granted. Their story will wreck you, leave you in a sobbing mess, but without a doubt also leave you with a sense of relief, contentment and most importantly… happiness. 😊 I don’t think I have to tell you folks that I would recommend this book. Whether you’re an avid MC romance fan or not, if you enjoy romance books, I’d hit this one up!

But make sure to read the previous books first as the characters and their backstory are interconnected with one another.

She’s an angel thrust into the chaos of the devil’s playground.

I’m a Royal Bastard who doesn’t deserve her. She’s too young for me. Too pure and too good. I’m going to ruin her and break her heart. I know it and she knows it and yet neither of us can stay away. I watched Wylla Mae transform from a girl into a lady. She’s forbidden and tempting with her soft curves and big doe eyes. Everything I crave and all that I deny myself until a moment of weakness forces me to break.

An enemy is on the move and when he sets his sights on her, all bets are off. I’ll move heaven and hell to keep her safe in my arms.

Okay… Okay…

The Biker’s Kiss had the potential for this MC romance series to be a big hit. Well… Lady & The Biker just made that potential into a reality! 🙌

“We’re a team. It’s you and me, Whylla Mae.”

Bikers_SunsetRide

I was not expecting to be sucked into this story that I read it in one sitting. Whilst I am immensely addicted to MC romances, there are some romance tropes I’m not big on or have not read a lot of good ones of to want to read anymore from said trope. Lady & The Biker is an age-gap, opposites attract biker romance.

I do love me some opposites attract but age-gap romance has never really grew on me much. But I can say with absolute surety that Maynard wrote Easton and Wylla Mae’s relationship beautifully. I’m not going to lie, their first encounter had me taken aback (because you know they’ll eventually end up together romantically) but the further you read, you gradually see their relationship develop, you get a sense of their unique bond and their age difference almost fades to the background.

I thoroughly loved that their story was written throughout a span of a decade during different times of their lives.

“She gave me a sense of family outside the brotherhood of the RBMC.”

MeganFox_LazeInBed

Their story is a little bit tragic, a little bit heartbreaking, and will have you thinking about long after you’ve finish reading it. Maynard is a relatively new-to-me author having only The Biker’s Kiss prior to this one but I tell you what, she has won over another fan and reader! 👍

Always a fan of stories told from dual POVs as it gives the thoughts going on from both parties, and with the age difference and opposites attract element in this story, you get to not only see both their perspectives but you’ll see the different dynamics they both bring in. The storytelling was a relatively well paced, excellently detailed writing that’s constantly gripping and suspenseful.

😮 Phoar! What world-building and character development! Not only with seeing Whylla Mae grow up right before your eyes from a sassy little girl to an intelligent, determined young woman, but with East as well.

I loved that over the years their relationship has only grown stronger. They have a great friendship first and foremost, so when their feelings started to become of the romantic natyre the development felt organic — which I think is a big reason as to why the age-gap in this particular book didn’t bother me as it normally would have (based on past experiences with this trope).

This may sound a little weird to some considering this is after all a romance book, but what I loved the most about this story is the growing relationship East and Whylla had over time before the romantic feelings started blossoming. It gave their relationship more realism, less infatuation on Whylla Mae’s side and doesn’t give East that older-man-creeper-vibes. 😅

“I’ll be around. I promise. If you need me, you can call on me…”

MeganFox_Hug

I can’t get over the development between Whylla Mae and East. How much they’ve both grown but have stayed bonded to one another. I adore East for the man that he is. Despite his constant remarks of being undeserving and not a good enough man, he is without a doubt better than most. He’s biker and a gentleman — which I must say is a hot combo in any MC romance book! 😍

Full of temptation, angst and drama that’ll have you hooked from the get-go. With an unsual first encounter that will have you curious about how their relationship will develop and work in the end.

One of the more gripping storylines I’ve read in an MC romance. Maynard not only gave her characters dimension but she’s also even given her secondary characters enough personality and backstory that you’ll eventually want to see more of in the forefront.

Maynard has creatively and cleverly written her characters to be portrayed in a certain light, at certain moments but what you’ll realise is that looks can be deceiving. Don’t judge a book by its cover so to speak. 😉 Add this element along with the world-building and characters’ development, and who’ve got yourself a story full of depth.

Ugh loved it. The first book is a novella which is an introduction to Royal Bastards Charleston Chapter. This however, is the first full length novel in the series and it’s not to be missed!

Whilst this is only the second book in the series, the stories do interconnect with another, so I recommend you read the first book prior to delving into this one.

Perfect for MC romance fans!

My past was destructive.
It haunts my dreams.
The moment I embraced my addiction, I knew my life would change dramatically.

As the VP of the Houston Defiance MC, my job is to stand tall. Contain the demons clawing from the inside, begging to escape from within. But when I embrace my bloodlust, nothing can tame my wrath.

Zero took me in as part of his family – a bond unbreakable.
I should care about the no-touch rules.
And the fact they are in place on his sister.

But the draw to Prinie is addictive, destructive, exhilarating.
And I am all too aware that I’m dangerous.
She needs to see that too.

Her brother loathes the idea of us. Honestly, I put up a fight too.
But maybe fighting my addiction to her is impossible?
When chaos strikes the club, we’ll turn to each other.
But chaos can just as easily rip us both to shreds.

From International Bestselling Author KE Osborn comes the second book in the Houston Defiance MC Series.

— MY REVIEW —

Spartacus_GlanceUp

After reading the first book in the series and how it ended, I knew I had to read Wraith’s story.

Addictive was not at all what I was expecting! 😱

The story is so much more than a simple MC romance. Wraith has such a broken past that he can’t seem to escape from no matter how hard he tries. It’s disturbing, tragic and completely heartbreaking to read about. I really didn’t know what I was getting into but the minute Wraith’s story begins to unravel, you start getting that uneasy feeling as you read on knowing it’s not going to be so pretty.

This book is not for the fainthearted. It delves into serious subject matter that can be triggering for anyone. It contains detailed violence, addiction, drug and sexual abuse. It can be a difficult topic to read about, so please keep in mind before starting this book.

Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, there was a lot to take in. Most of it is set in a dark, gritty atmosphere with constant problems arising, not only for Wraith and Prinie’s relationship, but for the MC itself. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and I’m not going to lie, I might’ve had moments of panic at what could possibly happen next. Eeep. 🙈

It’s unpredictable and oh-so suspenseful that that alone was what kept me reading. The constant questions and second-guessing added extra excitement to this forbidden/ hate to love MC romance.

“I have to do better. I need to be better.”

Spartacus_CutsAndBruises

The first book gave an unbelievable introduction to the world-building of the Houston Defiance MC, and Addictive effortlessly expanded it further. You get an insight to more of the other brothers in the club, the group dynamics and the relationships that have formed.

There are secondary characters I’m eager to see more of and hope they get their own book in the future. I love that all these bikers have history and it comes through in moments when they give sound advice to Wraith.

And whilst this book didn’t have as much swoony moments as the first book had between Zero and Rayne, seeing any scene between Wraith and Prinie just made it all the more special because they were rare. I only wish there were more them! They have a complicated push and pull relationship and it’s helluva slow burn! You’ll be frustrated and you might even wail (not saying that I did… *cough*) but I found with all slow burn romances I’ve read, is that it is well worth the wait when you finally see them get together! 😉

Wraith and Prinie have quite a journey. It’s full of hurdles and it feels like the world is always against them but coming away from this read, you realize how much they both grow as individuals and as a couple. The character growth is extraordinary — especially from Wraith’s POV. With his scars and the constant battle he has with himself, you get to see how much he develops as a character. Ugh. *hand to heart* ❤

“She’s my fucking kryptonite.”

Prinie is young, yet she’s already lived such a life. Her struggles are relatable and you can’t help but sympathize for her. But I’m relieved to see Osborn created her as character who yes, is vulnerable but who also has a strength within her to overcome issues. She’s a persistent little firecracker!

But what I loved most about their complicated relationship is they give each other strength and support despite the fact that they consistently bicker and banter, nevertheless when push comes to shove… they’ve got each other’s back. It’s palpable how much they care for another and for the people they consider family.

The support of the MC is another highlight. These guys may not be all about openly sharing their feelings but they are supportive as hell! As I mentioned earlier, this story is not for the fainthearted, and a big chunk of it is full of darkness. But Osborn has added some lightheartedness in between to really give not only her characters, but the readers a breather.

A beautiful story of family, growth, overcoming adversaries, and moving on from the past. A steady paced storytelling told perfectly from Wraith and Prinie’s POVs. It’s a story full of emotion that’ll have you sighing in contentment once you reach the last page. A great sequel and addition to the Houston Defiance MC series.

Although each book centers around a different hero/ heroine, I recommend you read Explosive first because the books do interconnect. You’ll get a better grasp of the world and the relationships within.

RATING: ♥♥♥♥/5
