2022 Favourite Reads

Yep, I’m doing another round-up of my favourite reads,. This will be my third year posting and it’s looking like it’ll be a yearly tradition. Wooo!

I had another rollercoaster year. I remember the first few months of 2022 wishing the year would roll by quick, and now that it’s finally time to ring in the new year, I have such a bittersweet feeling because the last two-to-three months elevated the year.

I say this every year because it really is true in my life… reading has and always will be my form of sanctuary and escapism from the daily grind. I’m your stereotypical introvert who prefers books to company. The older I get the more I’ve preferred a cosy night in with a swoon-worthy book, a favourite movie playing in the background, and tons of comfort food, and I don’t really see my preferences changing back to my younger years when I spent over an hour getting ready to go out and dance the night away (although on a rare occasion I might brush off the party dress and put on a friendly smile hehe).

Now! 👏 Are you ready to see the books I ended up loving the most from all the 100+ books I read this year? Even I surprised myself when I went back to compilate this list. 😲

PPL_AriaHappyDance

Here is my compilation of favourite reads of 2022. Ooh man, it was hard! Like last year, I ideally wanted to pluck out one favourite book from each month but damn it was hard! Some months had multiple stellar reads, so I tried had to do a little bit of finessing… *cough* cheating *cough* 😜😁

But I will say this, I have a bunch of different authors in this list, some are new-to-me authors that have quickly been added to my auto-buy authors list. So if you’re wondering if I’d recommend any… HELL YES!

(FYI: organised by romance sub-genre)

So here we go!

Cinderella said to be kind, have courage, and always believe in a little magic.

She’s wrong.

To survive in my world, you have to be dead inside, be on guard at all times, and never dream of the impossible.

You never dream of anything because you don’t just get to stop working for the Polish mafia.

But you can be stolen from them.

Well, kind of.

When Gabriel Demir, head of the Turkish mafia, attacks my boss, I’m caught in the crossfire.

I’m taken captive, interrogated, and soon find myself in the position of maid again. Only this time, it’s for the Turkish instead of Polish.

This time it’s for a dangerously attractive man and not the insane one I’ve known all my life.

This time I find myself fantasizing about my boss instead of dreaming of ways to escape.

This time I’m not threatened with pain and death but with pleasure.

But can I step out of the maid’s uniform and into a ballgown?

Do I dare cross that line just for a moment in the spotlight?

“He might not be my prince, but he’s definitely my savior.”

DavidGandy_HardStare

I am in love with Stolen By A Sinner! 👏👏👏 We’re only halfway through this series and it’s already phenomenal, and the two previous books have been addictive as hell… but this one just hits a little differently— it’s extra special.

Everything was on point, from the initial premise, to the expectations, to the overall execution of the storytelling! It may sound simple enough for a book to coincide with its synopsis but there’s plenty of cases where it ends up becoming a bit of a hit and miss, and you’re left with a story that headed in a completely unsuspecting direction. Heard had undertaken a Cinderella tale set in a modern Mafia world and ended up not only delivering but surpassing all expectations. I honestly cannot stopping re-reading it. The stories, the developments, and ugh… the characters have all but consumed my thoughts, and I don’t see it fading away anytime soon.

Right from the very beginning there’s already a vivid sense of uneasiness and fear as Lara takes us into her depressing, isolated world. Although it was still early days into the story, it was already such a pivotal period of Lara’s personal story, as it provides both an understanding of her circumstances, and ultimately the backstory to the main narrative between Gabriel and herself.

Such a winning pair of leading characters that complement each other so well. Gabriel is the next Mafioso in the series to share his story and believe me when I say he’ll leave his mark on your heart, but Lara’s character growth is utterly moving, to say the least. She’s very much the focal point, with the majority of the storyline revolving around her. With her youth, lack of life experiences and relationships, she’d been severely conditioned to accept her standing on top of constantly keeping her wits about her.

There’s nothing arrogant about Gabriel’s strength and authority, yet he’s undoubtedly a powerful, intimidating-as-hell hero who willingly (and effortlessly) slipped into a solid supporting role for his heroine. I found it to be such an intriguing dynamic getting to witness such a gradual, genuine relationship form between that two through patience, compassion, and acceptance. As the story progressed you can literally see trust building, that made their entire relationship all the more heart-warming and realistic as it evolved.

It’s a pretty harsh and emotional read. I’d lost count of how many times I either welled-up with tears or downright blubbered. You can’t help but be heartbroken for Lara and all that she’s endured. It’s such savagery and a deep sense of loneliness. It touches on mental health and wellbeing, and reflects on multiple societal and economic issues. Don’t take Heard’s warning of this book lightly, as it contains serious triggers and intended for readers 18+ only.

But in saying that, for readers who have no issues with sensitive subject matter, I cannot recommend this book enough. It’s my first ever Turkish Mafia romance, but what also attracted me to the story was the Cinderella-themed synopsis. So, if you enjoy any of the following romance sub-genres and tropes, I really think this one will be to your liking! 😊

“If you want me to be your prince, I’ll be your fucking prince, baby.”

  • Modern-Day Fairy tale
  • Age-Gap Romance
  • Captive Romance
  • Opposite sides of the tracks
  • Workplace Romance
  • Cross-Cultural/ Interracial Characters
  • Romantic Suspense
  • Dark Mafia Romance
  • Slow-Burn Romance
  • Enemies-to-Lovers

There’s such a well-written cast of characters included that seriously elevated this book to heavenly status! I haven’t loved an entire group of people (albeit, fictional) in a very long time. This is the type of support system dreams are made of. They brought about friendship, strength, loyalty, and also displayed a deep contrast between Lara’s and Gabriel’s worlds. And if that wasn’t enough, the additional light-heartedness and much needed (but surprising) comic-relief was the cherry on top of an epic fairy tale romance story!

What I’ve quickly discovered with each book in this series is that I really enjoy (and look forward to) getting to learn another language. It may just be a few words but the way Heard has incorporated diversity and culture into these books added another layer to the world-building and almost transports its audience to new travel destinations. It also makes her characters and their world a lot more fleshed out.

Stolen By A Sinner is journey worth experiencing for yourself. It’s an emotional rollercoaster— you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll swoon, and then you’ll cry some more. It’s a standalone novel in The Sinners Series but it’s a complete story—epilogue and all!

It’s easily one of my favourite reads of 2022!

2021 Favourite Reads

Guess who’s back with another favourite reads post!?

Yep. Last year I posted a round-up of my favourite reads, and this year I decided to do it again! Could it be the start of a new tradition… Who knows? 😊

Ha! I thought 2020 was a tough year to get through. Sheesh. If I knew how sucky 2021 ended up being, I wouldn’t welcomed it with open arms. Lol.

But like I said last year and every year I’ve been reading… it’s always been my form of sanctuary and escapism. I’m your stereotypical introvert who prefers books to company. Who prefers a cozy night in with a swoon-worthy book and comfort food over late-night partying with outfits that’s all-too binding, uncomfortable shoes, and the stench of sweat in the air. 😅

HarleyQuinn_DrinkingCoffee

This year, I’ve compiled my top 12 favourite reads of the year. Ideally, I wanted one favourite book from every month but… some months had doubly amazing reads, whilst others had mediocre ones not completely worthy of this list.

Even though I had a few reading slumps along the way (nothing new), after compiling my top reads, I realized that the majority of the books were from new-to-me-authors, so despite a few hiccups along the road, this year introduced me to some incredible authors who’ve quickly become auto-buy authors!

So here we go!

I’m trouble with a capital P

I know what I want in life, and I go for it.

Nobody stands in my way, not even the big group of bikers who caught me red-handed stealing from them.

I’ll do as they ask.

I’ll be their good little slave.

I’ll make their money and pay off my debt.

I’ll also make them think twice.

Think twice about holding me.

Think twice about isolating me.

Think twice about the moment they decided keeping me was worth more than the trouble I bring.

And oh, do I bring some trouble.

Their little club won’t know what hit them.

My name is Poppy, and I’m a bad, bad girl.

Hell follows me, and the devil himself won’t mess with me.

They’ll wish they left me alone.

Oh, indeed…

Pop goes the biker.

• MY REVIEW •

Oh. Em. Geeeeee! 😍😍😍 With each new addition, this series just keeps getting better and better. Pop Goes The Biker was such a fun, entertaining-as-hell romance story! I read it in one sitting and it left such an impression on me that I kept going back hoping if I reread it enough times it’d eventually get out of my system. FYI: It took a little while.

ChrisHemsworth_Smile

Each book so far has some level of hate-to-love/ enemies-to-lovers storyline between its protagonists, but this one just had an extra level of zing! The banter between Poppy and Beckett were off-the-charts amusing! 😂

This series as a whole is easy on the MC aspect but from all the books, this one features it the most as a big part of the storyline centres around Beckett’s club. I thought it was an amazing contemporary rom-com with hot bikers and occasional “club business” present.

It’s another relatively quick read that I wish had a few more chapters just so it didn’t feel like it concluded abruptly in the end. But other than that, I was completely hooked and giggling my ass off the entire time! Poppy and Beckett were locked in a fiercely heated, yet entertaining battle of wits that only made their chemistry all the more authentic. It can get angsty at times and it was verging on a slow burn romance, but the build-up only served to increase the intensity between the two as the story progressed.

There are a couple of twists and turns, and the entire story is told solely from Poppy’s point of view. It’s a bit of shame we don’t get Beckett’s as well but honestly, once I settled into the story I got over the fact fairly quickly.

If you like sunshine x grumpy/ hate-to-love romance tropes, my gosh this book will satisfy that craving! The cast of characters are all so likable— Poppy is spunky, with a strong independent personality. Beckett is a bit of serious sourpuss but it’s adorable seeing him get all riled up (and it doesn’t hurt that he’s described looking fairly similar to Thor; the God of Thunder himself)! *waggles brows* 😍🤤

There’s already a sweet little world-building in place that expands with each book, so I recommend you read all the books in the series in publishing order to get the full Turf Wars experience. They can technically be standalone stories, but trust me when I say if you read them from the beginning, by the time you get onto this book, you’ll be itching to know Poppy’s and Beckett’s story!

You can expect to see solid comraderies in this world that added extra oomph and amusement to the storyline— one with the club members, and the other with the women who’ve formed their own girl gang of sorts. It’s total comfort read, with an overall easy-going storyline. It does contain adult themes and minor darkish content, but in my opinion, nothing triggering. However, if cheating and/or love triangles are a big no-no for you, then maybe give this one a miss.

There are certain plots within the story that can be a sensitive subject for some readers as it concerns making one’s own personal choices in life and the protagonists debate about it. There’s a good chance you won’t agree with a lot of their actions. They can be reckless and it shows. They go through emotional turmoil and life-altering situations, and in my opinion it could’ve been a little more in-depth, and at times major groveling was needed yet it was otherwise lacking. Sigh. But this particular topic, although constantly up for debate in our society, has also made this story relatable. It added a sense of realness in an otherwise fluff-adjacent romance story.

Overall, effortless to follow and most certainly a mood-boosting read. It’s another great addition to the series. I’ve read a handful of Jewel’s books, and so far I’ve found her writing style favourable, so I’d recommend giving this one a try. It’s a series where the fun, playful, and vibrant covers match the stories within.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Mafia & Bratva Romance. Set in the same world with connecting characters but these books are all STANDALONES and do not have to be read in order. All the books are told from dual POVS.

•••

• Book One | Merciless Saints •

BLURB

Alliances are made. Loyalty is owned. Love is taken.

I’ll show everyone I’m a threat, and they will fear me.
For my family. I have to protect them.

The second I hear the name Damien Vetrov I know I’m in trouble.
He’s an arrogant Russian God.
Only, I have zero intention of bowing to him. Ever.
Attractive and lethal. He’s such an intoxicating mixture.

Every second we spend together, the pull between us becomes stronger, and my fear grows.
While my body wants him, my head knows better. He has the power to kill my family.

But when blood is shed, I’m forced to depend on Damien for my life.

Being at his mercy, whether he’ll kill me or protect me, is still up for debate.

•••

MINI REVIEW

Damien & Winter | An Irish and Russian marriage of convenience/ formed alliances romance.

Their story surprisingly have me bawling my eyes out! A heartbreaking storyline that just kept hitting the feels! I was emotionally drained after reading this book and a lot of it was due to the brutal tragedy that befalls Winter.

It’s action-packed and constantly moving forward. There’s just the right amount of build-up, suspense, and tons of shock value. I certainly wasn’t ready for how this story progressed, but despite the hardships these characters go through, I was instantly invested in not only Winter and Damien but all the secondary characters who were also introduced. The bond and brotherhood smacked me from the get-go. I was in awe of how little it took for me to believe the history, love, and loyalty these characters had with one another, and besides the romance aspect, was a big reason as to why I knew I would love the series! The family dynamics and strong ties will have you swooning just as much as the romance elements.

Winter and Damien had a sizzling push-and-pull chemistry. The writing felt effortless to follow and the emotions that both Winter and Damien displayed felt so genuine. It’s a relatively quick read that can be finished in one sitting. I enjoyed the pacing for the most part as the story came off hearty and full of dimension. I enjoyed the backstories, especially from Winter’s POV as it truly transports you to her life as if you’re experiencing her emotions in those events right along with her.

Right off the bat, the thought of an elite Academy who trains high-end assassins and has dealings with the underworld had me on the edge of my seat hooked! And seeing Winter and Damien start out as students of this Academy who eventually become two of the most dangerous, most powerful players in their Mafia world had me giddy with excitement at not just their budding romance, but the start of an intricate world-building. Although it’s a standalone story, it was amazing introduction to St. Monarch’s Academy and the entire cast of characters who’ll be reappearing in all the books to come.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

•••

• Book Two | Cruel Saints •

BLURB

Alliances are made. Loyalty is owned. Love is taken.

Little did I know my love and freedom would be taken to form a new alliance.

Brutal, possessive, and dangerous, Lucian is feared by all. Including myself.
When his father is assassinated, Lucian takes his rightful place as head of the Cotroni family. They rule the Mafia with an iron fist, and he’s set his sights on my family.
Until now, we’ve been the only threat, but when a new one emerges, my father is forced to arrange a marriage between Lucian and myself.

He might be handsome but he’s not the kind of man who loves. He takes what he wants and right now, it’s my body.
I might belong to him in name, but the question remains – will our union be consummated in blood or love?

MINI REVIEW

Lucian & Elena | An Italian Mafia arranged marriage/ formed alliances romance story

It had my arms flailing and my eyes glued to the pages! I absolutely devoured this book! I loved the opposites attract trope between Lucian and Elena. They were the epitome of a knight in shining armour and the damsel in distress (in a dark Mafia setting). This was a refreshing dark mafia story as Lucian’s family was surprisingly the sweet, loving dynamic that’s not usually the norm in mafia romances. I’ve read countless books from this genre but I don’t think I’ve encountered one where the hero’s family was the one oozing love and happiness, and a genuine bond between father and son.

This story was one of the more grittier storylines and it includes sensitive subject matter that may be triggering for some readers such as domestic abuse, sexual assault, and graphic violence.

Although I don’t have triggers, I’m not going to lie, some of the scenes in this book was tough to get through. Michelle has written these stories with such vividness, that you’re already emotionally invested in these characters and their world right from the beginning, and seeing one suffering is gut-wrenching. Learning their backstories added more dimension and an understanding of these characters’ mindset in the present day.

Perfect balance of light-heartedness and darkness throughout. There’s evident character growth from both protagonists as the story progresses and seeing their bond grow from strength to strength makes this a touching and empowering romance story.

It’s intense with lots of action and suspense. There’s a nice gradual build-up in their romance that makes their relationship go from a marriage of convenience to genuine love and loyalty.

The secondary characters in this book will also steal your heart.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½

•••

• Book Three | Ruthless Saints •

BLURB

I move in the shadow of death. I’m the villain. The monster everyone fears.
I’ve been born into a life of depravity and ruthlessness. It’s kill or be killed.

Until her…
The moment she smiles at me, my world changes.
I keep coming back. Watching her brings me stolen moments of peace.

Until I can’t stay away…
She doesn’t know who I am, that she’s flirting with death.
Slowly we fall deeper until she loves the lies I’ve told her.

The danger that follows me, creeps closer and the façade I’ve built comes crashing down around us.

And lovers turn to enemies.
But there’s no going back for me.
I want her. I will have her.
She doesn’t have a choice.

MINI REVIEW

Carson & Hailey | An opposites attract, mafia/outsider romance story

OMG! Might just be my favourite story (after Alexei’s and Isabella’s)! I was just as immediately intrigued by Hailey as Carson was when she first walked into the room. The opposites attract in this particular story popped with bubbly, happy-go-lucky Hailey and enigmatic, broody, lurks-in-the-shadows Carson. The curiousity gets the better of Carson and seeing him struggle with wanting to know more about Hailey and steering clear of her was a gripping development to see play out throughout.

The inner dialogues by both these protagonists had me giggling at times and gave such comic relief and lightheartedness when you least expect it.

Similar to the first two books, it’s another action-packed, suspenseful quick read. By this third one you get the gist that each of the books within the series contains the build-up in the first half of the story with a somewhat swift conclusion by the end, which I would normally be disappointed with but since these books present character growth, steady romantic development, and an overall detailed storyline, it doesn’t feel like it’s ending abruptly.

Hailey and Carson, in my opinion had one of the more complex and heart-wrenching storylines from all all the couples, and despite the heartbreaking scenes that were tough to see play out, I could not put it down until I finished it. It’s an angsty, dramatic rollercoaster ride that had me ugly-crying for a good chunk of the book.

With Carson being Alexei’s younger brother, they certainly have the talent to turn heads. *waggles eyebrows*

I’m also loving the entire innocent-outsider-enters-the-mafia-world. It’s thought-provoking seeing their dark and gritty world from an outsider’s perspective, and once again I adore the fact that the hero is another protective, caring sweetheart who’s just the right amount of dominating alpha.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐½

•••

• Book Four | Tears Of Betrayal •

BLURB

My father is the head of the Bratva, but being born out of wedlock, I’ve never been a part of that world.
Until a hit is taken out on me. I’m kidnapped in the dead of night and waking up, it’s to come face to face with Demitri Vetrov.

Dangerous and heartless, Demitri is the most feared man in the world. I’ve heard whispers of what he’s capable of.

I’m thrown into a nightmare where I don’t know who I can trust, and fear for my life is my only constant companion.
I’m forced to be at Demitri’s mercy, I’m just not sure he has any. It also doesn’t help that he’s disarmingly attractive.

Tall, dark, and deadly.

Knowing this, he uses it against me like a weapon, breaking down my walls faster than I can put them up.

There’s a war coming, and I’m right in the middle of it.
The only question is, will Demitri be the one to save me or kill me?

Demitri & Ariana | A captor/captive, forced proximity Bratva romance story.

Ooh okay… I feel like after reading Alexei’s story, there was a lot of anticipation in reading Demitri’s story— just for the fact that he was this quiet but deadly character who was strictly all business.

First thing that comes to mind after reading this book is how much I couldn’t get enough of their inner dialogue—especially Ariana’s as her mindset was so genuinely relatable… and so girly. Lol.

If you love sexual banter, you will enjoy the hell out of this one. The unsuspecting one-liners that come out of Demitri had me snort-laughing, and it’s these moments that break the tension and gloomy atmosphere that overall surrounds the situation that Ariana (and Demitri) find themselves in.

Another storyline with tear-jerking moments (honestly, I don’t think there was single book from this series where I didn’t cry at one point or another).

And after having reading all the books, I realized that each one had strong family presence. These may be a bunch of mafiosos and assassins but trust, loyalty, and family are paramount in their world.

Demitri and Ariana had somewhat of an insta-love romance yet slow-burn at the same time. Best way I can describe their romance is there’s a ton sexual build-up and teasing before their relationship develops deeper.

At the time I read this book it was also part of the Underworld Kings author-collaboration series. It was my introduction to Michelle Heard and the rest of The Saints. After having read Tears of Salvation I knew I had to go back and start from the beginning of the series. Best. Decision. Ever! ❤

I have myself another favourite romance series that I will surely read (oh who am I kidding, I already have) over and over again. I love how they are all relatively short reads so whenever I need an all-consuming, passionately hot romance read to perk my mood up or get me out of a reading slump, these will be my go-to books for sure!

One word to describe this series— the characters, the storylines, the romances, all the developments…

ISABELLA

I was the party crasher.
He was the Devil.

Three months ago, I suffered a moment of insanity and had a one-night stand without even knowing who the man was.
It was hot and unforgettable.
I tried to forget him, but there are moments I swear I can still smell his aftershave.

Little did I know he’s the head of the Bratva.
Alexei Koslov.
My family’s worst enemy.

There’s a thin line between love and hate,
and I’m straddling it.

ALEXEI

There’s an even thinner line between the truth and a lie.

As the head of the Bratva and the best assassin,
I’m the devil everyone fears.

I get more than I bargained for when I come face to face with Isabella Terrero.
Instead of the Princess of Terror, she might just be the embodiment of the goddess of mischief and chaos.

For her, I broke all my rules.
For her, I burned down the world.

• MY REVIEW •

They say good things come to those who wait…

I’ve been wanting to read books by Michelle Heard for some time now but timing was always off. But you know what? Not only was Tears of Salvation THE BEST introduction to new-to-me author Michelle Heard but this may just be THE BEST introduction to the world of the St. Monarch’s Academy! 😍😍❤

GirlWithGun_B&W

I love my dark mafia romances and this story had the perfect balance of action, suspense, and romance within such a well written and vivid storytelling. Michelle Heard, where have you been all my life?!

The cast of characters whether they played a major or minor role were unique and stood out in their own right that I had no issues differentiating them from one another. These characters are also one of the main reasons as to why I am eager to read the other books in the St. Monarch’s Academy (even though this one in particular is also part of the Underworld Kings author-collaboration series).

From the opening scene, Isabella’s and Alexei’s story had my full attention. The immediate sexual chemistry between them leaped of the pages setting the tone for the rest of the story. With all the intensity, it was easy to keep invested. The fast pacing, the constant build-up of suspense, and the dual points of view all added to making the entirety of this story exquisitely and deliciously addictive!

Whilst there’s some sensitive subject matter within, the overall atmosphere is not overly brutal or gritty. I thought it had the right amount of lightness and darkness throughout. There’s also some lighthearted banter amongst the brotherhood which was unexpectedly awe-inspiring and a display of friendships that seemed so genuine. Seeing the familial bonds and deep affection was just as gripping as the romantic aspects of the story.

An enemies-to-lovers with a twist that I did not see coming. I love that Michelle has written a story where anything and everything can happen that you feel like you have to constantly be on your toes so you don’t miss out on anything.

It’s a refreshing take on mafia romance. One feature being the fact that these characters despite their differences and alliances all trained in this exclusive, specialized school. I have never wanted to go to a fictional school more since I first read about Hogwarts in Harry Potter during my teen years. I can without a doubt say St. Monarch’s Academy is up there with the school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. If I was offered a place, I’d be there in a heartbeat! 😄

If you love any of the following, you have to add Tears of Salvation to your TBR, stat!

  • Dark Romance
  • Russian Mafia Romance
  • Romantic Suspense
  • Enemies-to-Lovers
  • Assassins
  • Comradery
  • Kickass Heroines
  • Overprotective Alphas

The world-building in this book is exceptional, clearly showing both Isabella’s and Alexei’s worlds that eventually fuse together as they discover that they may have more in common than they initially realized.

Isabella is such a likable character with the perfect amount of heart and badassery in one. I’ve read plenty of dark romance books where a strong, independent heroine is present, but Isabella is in a class of her own. There’s a believability in her determination and strength, in her actions, and even in her presence when she’s around people that makes her favourable, not just as a heroine but as character in general.

Alexei is a total swoon-worthy alpha of a hero, not only does he walk the walk but what I ended up loving about him most is his fierce loyalty and protectiveness over his loved ones. He’s a feared and ruthless leader but those who follow and serve him know his greatness and his heart.

Overall, I really could not fault this book. Yes, I would’ve preferred some parts of the story to have played out a little longer than they had, but those are just minor hang-ups for me. I loved reading every page of it and wish it hadn’t ended. There was an effortless flow from beginning to end, with plenty of dimension as the story develops. You’ll get to see gradual character growth from both Isabella and Alexei as they navigate through their intricate relationship. They are an exceptional match. Equal pairing that I couldn’t get enough of!

I was never bored. I didn’t once feel the need to skim through pages. I enjoyed seeing the multi-layered storylines that all weaved together— from the romance, to their own personal vendettas, to all the secondary characters and their stories that added to the entire world-building.

Please note it does contain matters that may be triggering for some readers such as, human trafficking, child abuse, kidnapping, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Take into consideration before starting. Whilst this may ultimately be a dark, mafia romance, it’s no fluff read. The backstory covers real dark societal issues. As I delved further into the story I connected more and more with the characters, sympathising with the realism in what they’ve experienced and witnessed in their lives.

A highly recommend book that can easily be read in one sitting. It’s one that had me thinking about long after I finished reading it. From this book alone, I can already tell that Michelle’s writing style is one I’ll constantly enjoy reading.

If mafia romances are your go-to romance books, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with this one. It had all the elements of a hearty story— memorable characters, substantial character growth, a fleshed-out storyline, complex world-building, and enough scenes with shock value. Tears of Salvation had all that and then some! *singsong voice* Loveeeed it! Now one of my all time favourite mafia romances read to date!

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Lessons In Sin by Pam Godwin

There’s no absolution for the things I’ve done.
But I found a way to control my impulses.
I became a priest.

As Father Magnus Falke, I suppress my cravings. As the headteacher of a Catholic boarding school, I’m never tempted by a student.

Until Tinsley Constantine.

The bratty princess challenges my rules and awakens my dark nature. With each punishment I lash upon her, I want more. In my classroom, private rectory, and bent over my altar, I want all of her.

One touch risks everything I stand for. My faith. My redemption. And even my life.

As if that could stop me. I need her pain, and her heart, and she needs my lessons in sin.

•••

• MY REVIEW •

Oh holy book gods, Lessons In Sin was indefinably beautiful in all its forbidden and lustful existence! I thoroughly enjoyed all the books I’d read so far within the Midnight Dynasty but I can’t lie, this book blew all my good sense away!

TVD_Caroline_CheekySmile

Without a doubt, it not only took hold of my attention, but pushed my catholic-raised ways aside and convinced me that this age-gap, totally unbinding romance between just-of-age Tinsley and her much older boarding school headteacher and (off limits) priest was justifiable and despite all odds, is all around meant-to-be.

Genuinely heart-wrenching and soul-crushing, deepest of the deep kind of love — 👏 That is what you can expect to discover from reading this story. It’s a vivid and multifaceted world-building that Pam has created, with impressively well-developed and ever-evolving characters. I’m still in awe of how much emotion this book has evoked out of me. Right from the opening scene with Tinsley’s and Magnus’ first encounter set the atmosphere into intense climates and only expanded from there to suspense, thrill, and giddy excitement. If this was a scene from a movie, you would see little bright sparks fly out of the pages and my face in sheer wonder and delight.

I seriously can’t fault anything about it. Yes, it’s totally sinful, and in reality their situation would absolutely be all kinds of wrong… but that’s the beauty of fictional books, it’s all make believe, and fantasy, and escapism from the daily grind.

In my opinion Lessons In Sin was just that. The perfect escapism!

It had a compelling hero and heroine that oozed out such emotion that I found myself truly invested and saturated in their complexed lives. I loved the contrast and dimension between Tinsley and Magnus. There was definite demonstrations of their age difference throughout with their oh-so entertaining push-and-pull banter that was both perfectly timed and unsuspecting comic relief. But what made their relationship mesh so well was they connected through intelligence and understanding, and all banter aside, maturity levels that exceeded Tinsley’s youth.

KissToTheNeck

There was plenty of intrigue to effortlessly keep you reading with bated breath. Besides Tinsley and Magnus, there’s a diverse range of secondary characters that all played a role in making this story layered in complexity — from the memorable dynamics of fellow students, to the other priests, to the glimpses of the Constantine tribe.

I’m not going to go into detail about the religious aspects within this story. Please note this is just my opinion, but as an avid reader of dark romance novels (and who happens to be Catholic), I don’t find this story offensive. If I hadn’t already made it obvious, I enjoyed reading this book. Despite its setting and some of the realistic aspects included, at the end of the day it is fictional. The blurb pretty much mentions the forbidden and taboo elements of Magnus being a priest and Tinsley being a student. If after reading the synopsis you take any offence, then you may want to give this one a miss.

It’s a contemporary romance first and foremost but with dark elements. Without spoiling the plot, I will say that Magnus has ghosts that can be haunting to read about (no pun intended). It may not necessarily be triggering content but I don’t want to risk it if you are a reader who has triggers. There is sensitive subject matter that may surprise or catch you off guard. But just know it’s mentioned in passing and not something that actually plays out in the story.

What I realized fairly early on is Tinsley is strong-willed, comfortable in her own skin, and knows what she wants. It’s a big reason as to why I favor her character and in general find her a truly likable young person. She could easily have been the rich, bratty teenager who you’d constantly roll your eyes at, but every emotion and action out of her is calculated and within reason.

I honestly haven’t read a storyline that’s intricate and as well thought-out as this one in a long time. The storytelling was well paced, flowed with ease, and effortless to follow with its first-person dual points of view. There’s constant build-up and plot twists throughout. Not going to lie, there were a couple of instances where I had inklings that proved true but even with those minor predictabilities my excitement levels were still up there in seeing how Tinsley’s and Magnus’ wild journey will wrap-up.

✔ Forbidden

✔ High School

✔ Age-Gap

✔ Taboo

✔ Slow Burn

✔ Angst

I can tell you, this story had tropes I don’t usually go for first in my romance reads, but it proved to be a romance story I didn’t know I needed! All those elements were written in brilliantly that the age difference and taboo of their relationship wasn’t even in the forefront whilst reading it. They had undeniable chemistry and an even more sizzling bond that only escalated as time passed.

TVD_CarolineStefan_KissToForehead

What started out as a bit of diabolical game playing from Tinsley in pushing Magnus’ buttons, and with Magnus ever the strict rule abiding teacher and a man of faith determined to make her fall in line, progressively turned into companionship— to molten desire— to the inevitable forbidden relationship they so desperately wish would never end.

I was either in near tears with chin wobbles or full-on blubbering whilst reading this book. It was hearty, full of depth, and just simply winning. I adored the little friendships, the sibling solidarity, Tinsley’s passion, Magnus’ protectiveness, and all the minor characters—who I shall not name but nevertheless made an impact!

This is my first book of Pam Godwin’s but in no way will it be my last. If her writing style from this one is anything to go by, she has won herself another fan. 😊

Loved it. Loved it. Loved it. I would happily recommend it to fellow romance readers. It’s also a must read for fans who’ve been following the world of the Constantines and the Morellis within the Midnight Dynasty. I admit Tinsley Constantine wasn’t really on my radar as far as Constantine siblings go, but after reading Lessons In Sin she fast became my favourite (sorry Keaton)! An all-consuming love story that honestly rivals some of my all-time favourite classic romance novels. I will be reading this one time and time again.

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

When I rescued Scarlett De La Cruz from her tower it’s not like her prospects were looking so great. You’d think she’d show a little gratitude. Thank me for putting my ring on her finger and marking her as mafia property.

My property.

I’ll keep her safe. And the trade-off isn’t so bad. Most women would jump at the chance to sleep in my bed.

Not Scarlett, though.

My Cartel Princess has a big mouth and an even bigger attitude. But it’s her furious caramel eyes that keep me coming back for more. That and the way her body bends to mine like it already knows it belongs to me.

Scarlett is my enemy. She’s also the one woman I can’t keep my hands off.

But if I don’t keep my head on straight, everything I’ve worked for all these years will have been for nothing.

TVD_Elena_ThumbsUp

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!

If you’re ever in the mood for a reaaaaally honest to goodness mafia captor/ captive romance, I can without a doubt tell you to check out any one of Natasha Knight’s books! And after having finished reading With This Ring…? I can easily say it’s become one of my faves! 😍😍😍

The minute I started this book, I didn’t put it down. I read the entire thing in one sitting and I have no regrets! Yeah… I probably should’ve taken my time considering this is only part one of the duet but whatevs! 🤷‍♀️ I’ll read again it when it gets closer to the release date of book two; I Take Thee!

I’m no stranger to Knight’s books, having read quite a few in the last year. She has written quite a handful of captor/ captive mafia romances, and she has perfected the balance of a light and dark atmosphere, the romance, and the suspense. I was completely invested and hooked on Cristiano Grigori and Scarlett De La Cruz’s story. I love the mixture of the mafia and the cartel in this one, with an enemies-to-lovers romance between our anti-hero and heroine.

TVD_Elena_StayAway

What starts out as a war between territorial, power-hungry families, turns into a struggle for vengeance. But what’s left of both sides are forced together as bigger unsuspecting threats are on the rise and has taken aim at both the Grigori and the De La Cruz families.

I’m a big fan of Knight’s writing style and she has a way of easily getting you to fall in love with her characters. Cristiano is a scarred hero who is secretly struggling with life, and hates showing any vulnerability. But it’s his sensitive side that makes him all the more human and authentic. He’s not necessarily the most damaged hero I’ve read of Knight’s but he still manages to have an air of intimidation, darkness, and strength to him. And when you discover his story, you can’t help but feel a little protective of the guy (despite the fact that he can kill in a blink of an eye).

Scarlett is broken in her own way and just as tortured as Cristiano. What I like about her is despite what she’s going through, she still has the character in her to be selfless. Her emotions and actions are understandable, and you can’t help but root for her to succeed.

Cristiano and Scarlett are driven, strong-willed characters. Their story is very much family bound. They may be rivals, but they have more in common when it comes to family than they are willing to admit.

There’s a lot of push and pull between these two. It’s hard to pick a side because honestly, you want things to go both Cristiano and Scarlett’s way. The character growth is slow yet gradual, and as their journey progresses they start opening up. Putting aside the sparks between them, it’s the quiet moments where they’re simply learning more about each other that are some of my favourite parts to read through.

As a mafia romance lover, this book ticks every box in my checklist of what I consider an amazing mafia romance book.

  • Storyline with a solid, well-developed plot
  • Vivid, expanding world-building
  • Complex, intriguing characters you can connect with
  • Chemistry between its protagonists
  • Suspense and unpredictability
  • Secondary characters that add another layer
  • Swoon-worthy romance!

TVD_EnzoSmile

What keeps you engaged in this story is the constant unease of what could happen next between Cristiano and Scarlett. They’re from enemy families — one seeking retribution, whilst the other is just wanting to survive, yet both unaware that they share the want and need for freedom from responsibilities that’s been demanded of them. The build-up is 🔥 in this one, people!

Call me cruel, but seeing them struggle with their feelings, and be in constant denial was entertaining as hell to see! 😈😄 I wanna say theirs is a slow burn romance but to be honest I think it’s because I simply wanted more! Knight is skilled at teasing her readers with just enough raunchiness to the point where the anticipation for a full-blown scene will emotionally kill you. Lol. Sigh.

A well-paced storytelling, told from both Cristiano and Scarlett’s points of view. You’ll see backstories to these two families. It’s very modern Romeo & Juliet set in the underworld. There’s a few vital secondary characters who are just as evasive as our lead characters that you’ll wanna keep an eye on. There’s also a few sub-plots that interconnect with the main that’ll have you itching to uncover. As I mention earlier, it’s suspenseful. It keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end and will have you grumbling when you discover how it concludes. Ugh. 🙈🙉🙊

If you love a forbidden-esque enemies-to-lovers trope with tons of heated banter between your protagonists, I think you’ll thoroughly enjoy this read. It does have some sensitive subject matter that may be triggering for some readers but not overly graphic or detailed. I would still advise that with the dark themes included, readers 18+ only!

TVD_Elena_Upset

Overall, another much loved book from Knight that I am happily recommending to my friends and fellow romance readers. It’s such an intense, emotional story of two broken souls who are left to pick up the pieces and fight on! This is the first book in the To Have and To Hold Duet, and I love it so much that I consider the brutal cliffhanger well-worth the pain!

RATING: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

• MINI REVIEW •

This book was crazy good (and where my addiction with MC romances started). So much drama and intrigue that I couldn’t put it down. An unexpected chance meeting that ends up turning into so much more. Seeing a rough and rugged biker, with a closed off heart start to unravel over someone who was so not part of his world had me not only swooning but on the edge of my seat anxious to see how everything would go down with them two. Such a roller coaster ride, and an unbelievably amazing start to the series (and introduction to all the brothers of the MC!) P.S. I may or may not have cried once or twice reading it.. 🙈

And in his darkest hour, would her love be enough to save him?
From the MC’s California charter in San Jose, to the casinos and brothels of Reno, to brother charters in the Deep South, this story will take you on a ride of highs and lows that lead ultimately to redemption.

• MINI REVIEW •

My fave book from the entire series hands down! This series is already onto book 10 and not a single one of them have knocked Crash off top spot! 😊 This book had it all for me — A hate to love romance trope, a protective badass of an alpha male – who can turn into a sweet gentleman like *clicks fingers* that! And a helluva lot of banter that’ll have you giggling all throughout! 😍😍 A lot of twists and turns with this one, that you won’t know what’s happening until it smacks you in the face! The steamy scenes in this book were just that–STEAMY! Crash is completely book boyfriend goals!

• SHADES •

• BLURB •

Shades hadn’t seen Skylar in years, and now here she was, the love of his life, riding back into his life on the back of a brother’s bike.

For years after Shades had lost Skylar, he’d tried satisfying the emptiness of losing her with booze, pussy and the club. He’d turned his frustration at having to give her up into a determination to climb the ranks of the club, but he hadn’t counted on the fact that the pull he’d felt toward Skylar had only laid dormant in him all these years. Or that all it would take to reignite it was just one look at her. And he sure as hell hadn’t counted on her showing up on the back of a brother’s bike.

When Skylar finally comes back into his life, will his desire for earning that VP patch stand in the way of any future he could have with her?

And when a rival MC shows up looking for Skylar, things go from complicated to damn near impossible.

Does Skylar come with more baggage than Shades is willing to sign up for?

• MINI REVIEW •

A second chance romance like no other. These two have a complicated past that comes plunging back when they finally cross paths with each other again after so many years. I loved that Shades was a completely different person when he was with Skylar in comparison to when he’s with his MC brothers. Like the previous two books, the protagonists’ attraction for each other oozes off the page. Their relationship has some serious issues that they have to work through, but it’s part of the appeal of their story. I love the character growth in Shades, and the come-full-circle of their coupling.

WOLF

• BLURB •

The Evil Dead Motorcycle Club gave Wolf his nickname. They said it was because women stood about as much chance with him as Little Red Riding Hood stood against The Big Bad Wolf. And maybe that was true.

For Wolf, when it comes to his club, he’s all about loyalty. He loves his brothers, he loves the freedom of the road, and he loves his independence. When it comes to women, Wolf is all about the chase. He likes the hunt, he likes the challenge, and he loves women. And for the hot-as-hell badass biker, they’ve always come too easily. But they never fully satisfy him.

That is, until he met Crystal.

Buried under that hard-edged sexy-as-sin tomboy with the smartass mouth that can put any brother in the MC in his place, is a feminine side she only reveals when pushed. And Wolf is just the man to push. Problem is she’s the only woman to ever push back. Which only makes him more determined to have her.

Life in the Evil Dead MC isn’t easy, and neither is loving one of them. It’s a life that can leave a man scarred and bloody. And sometimes the fallout is far reaching and takes more than a man is willing to give.

It can be just as risky for any woman brave enough to love one of them.

The scars of life run deep, for both of them.

Sometimes life doesn’t give you a fairytale, sometimes you have to make your own.

And sometimes it takes a spitfire to tame a hell-raiser.

• MINI REVIEW •

Ever since Wolf and Crystal were first introduced in the previous books, I had been curious about them and wanting to see what their deal was. What I got from them in this book was so much more than what I imagined. Theirs was probably one of the more heart-breaking stories. What started out as friends with benefits (and denying their true feelings) turns into one fucking complicated mess that had me wondering if they would ever be able to work through it all. The things Skylar went through in this book is both relatable and realistic to a lot of women. I love the evolution of them as individuals and as a couple. Their story is told in both the past and present times of their lives, which really provides you with how much history is between Wolf and Skylar. Nicole James added some perfectly timed light-heartedness to break up the tension and seriousness in some scenes, and the support of the brotherhood was especially great in this one. It’s a beautiful love story. Little Tip: tissues are a must-have when reading it!

Ghost has been living his life under one rule…never fall in love, never get too close, never get tied down to just one woman. Focusing solely on his club, he is able to remain unattached and free…. until a girl from his past is dropped in his lap. She was a line he swore he’d never cross. And now, in order to obtain an alliance his club needs, he’s forced to use her in ways he’d never imagined.

She needs his protection, and she’s the one woman he can’t refuse.

When Ghost finds himself unable to keep his distance from her, will he be able to push his feelings aside and use her as a pawn for the attainment of his club’s goals? Or will he put the club and their lives at risk to follow his heart?

When lies and secrets come between them, can they overcome everything to find their own piece of heaven?

• MINI REVIEW •

My least fave from the series (just wasn’t feeling it). This was an (ex) step-siblings turned lovers romance. They reconnect after Jessie tracks him down in need of his help.

I was a fan of Ghost in Shades’ book, with my first impression of him being he was pretty-laid back, funny, and sweet as hell. Unfortunately those traits were lacking in his own book, and in my opinion didn’t do his character complete justice. Sure he was protective but he was also tough, arrogant, and domineering needing to have everything his way.. yet he kept changing his bloody mind! 🙄

Whilst Jessie gave in too easily. I’d say she’s your stereotypical damsel in distress. And she certainly needed Ghost’s help with her dilemma. Still a decent read. I became invested in these guys so I could not NOT read this one!

The boys of the Evil Dead MC are out on business—the shady kind that happens in the dark of night miles from nowhere—when Red Dog gets a call from one of his club brothers. Seems Red Dog’s ol’ lady has picked tonight to take off and go drinking fifty miles from home.

The fact that she waits until he’s six hours away—doing an arms deal on the California-Oregon border—to pull this stunt, doesn’t amuse him.

Just wait until he gets his hands on her.

Only problem is—that may be easier said than done.

What ensues is a game of hide-and-seek with the boys all helping their MC brother track down his ol’ lady.

Along the way, Red Dog remembers why he fell in love with his little China Doll in the first place.

And he’ll be damned if he’s going to let anything or anyone keep them apart again, not even her.

Ahhhh okay.. *flails arms* Red Dog is my second fave Evil Dead brother! 🤭😍 I wish his story wasn’t a novella because it was just so, so good. Red Dog is actually the only member who was introduced in the series already having an ol’ lady. This novella is pretty much how he met Mary and some of the difficult times they’ve gone/ going through in their lives. I love the chase in this one. The grovelling was my fave part of the entire book. That may sound mean but Red Dog is this big bad biker yet really he’s all sweetness! Not only was it entertaining to see (thanks to the brotherly banter), it was also the part that always gets me choked up. No matter how many times I reread his novella, I still get teary-eyed seeing the red-headed viking share his feelings with Mary. Ughhh LOVE!  I also have to mention that I love the little bit of diversity in this one — with Mary being half Asian. As I’ve come to understand, there’s not a lot of diversity in MCs, so this was a really nice addition 💘 Highly recommend. If you start this series, do not skip out on this novella.

 BLOOD

• BLURB •

A tale of revenge, loyalty and debts owed.

He’s the Enforcer for the New Orleans Chapter of the Evil Dead MC.
She’s a nurse, kidnapped and thrust into a situation out of her control.

Chained to a bed, his wounds on fire, his mind foggy with fever, Blood is losing all hope of ever making it out of the stifling New Orleans row house. Until the door opens and an angel of mercy is thrust inside.

Nurse Catherine ‘Cat’ Randall stared at the man on the bed. He’s dark and dangerous and everything she hates—just another filthy biker. Only he isn’t. He’s nothing like the others. And she’s his only hope of escape. Can she risk helping him? Can she trust a man who wears an MC patch? How can he be her savior when he wears the face of her deepest fear?

Blood owes the pretty nurse a debt—one he’s determined to repay, even if it clashes with his duty to his club. He made her a promise. But time is running out. To keep that promise and repay the debt he owes, he may have to sacrifice it all—everything that ever meant a damn to him.

Fighting treachery, betrayal, and dirty deals, there are a hundred ways it could all go wrong, but Blood is determined to have Cat for his own. She’s fast becoming his weakness. As the smoldering passion between them flares to life, burning hot and intense, no one is going to stop him. He wants it all, and he’ll settle for nothing less.

This is an emotional story filled with twists and turns, tragedy and humor that only the Evil Dead MC can deliver. Hang on for a ride you won’t forget.

Not gonna lie, whilst I did like this book overall.. I also found it a little busy. A lot of different things happened in this book (some of which started a chain of events that you’ll see in following books).

Blood was one of the brothers I totally fawned over when he was introduced — another character I could not wait to read more about, and whilst I did like him in this one, Cat and his story didn’t completely win me over. Cat, who I initially liked at the beginning slowly became someone I wasn’t really enjoying reading about. The chemistry between them wasn’t as palpable as I thought it would be (considering what I’ve seen of Blood in Shades’ book) 🤷‍♀️ Yeah… the scenes where it was just the two of them had me all smiles, but there were parts of this story that dragged a little long for me.

One nice change of pace about this one though is the backdrop. It’s set in New Orleans and the culture and people detailed out in this book I consider a highlight. Blood, himself was another. I would reread this book just for him.. because he is dreamy. Hehe.

 UNDERTAKER

• BLURB •

When Undertaker saved an innocent young girl from the clutches of a rival MC, he never expected she’d form an attachment to him, refusing to leave the safety of his clubhouse. But the President of the Evil Dead MC has a club to run. What he doesn’t have is the time or the experience to help Holly get past the traumatic experience she’s been through. Counseling is what she needs, and he’ll see she gets it.

The last thing Undertaker expects to see when that therapist walks through his clubhouse doors is a face from his past. They’d met years ago when he’d been ordered into counseling as part of his parole. Eleven years locked in a cell does things to a man, but back then Undertaker hadn’t had time to deal with all his demons. He had a motorcycle club he needed to get back to, and an untimely death in the ranks had him stepping up to fill the spot of President and fulfill his destiny—one that didn’t include the fresh-out-of-college psychology intern who’d been put in charge of his case. She’d known nothing of his problems. How could she? Besides, he’d scared her to death.

Now, a dozen years later, fate was coming around again, throwing them back together. But Allison Carter wasn’t that naïve girl anymore; she was all woman now.
And the President of the Evil Dead’s New Orleans Chapter was about to make her his.
Only problem was he had to let one sweet girl down easy before he could pursue her hot-as-sin therapist. It won’t be so simple when trouble from his past threatens everything.

When an ex-con biker sets his sights on you, do you run?
No?
Not even when he comes with more trouble than you can handle?

• MINI REVIEW •

A older man/ younger woman second chance romance that pulls at the heartstrings. I enjoyed every second of this book. Not only are the characters a little older than the previous ones, the maturity in their relationship is also evident. There was no gaming playing — just two people who had a short encounter in the past coincidentally meet again after so many years and start getting to know one another. The gradual growth of their relationship is one of the most realistic in this series in regards to pacing, and by the end the love between these two felt rock solid. Another satisfying romance story that’ll leave you with a contented smile on your face.

 JOKER

• BLURB •

Holly—
She’s a twenty-year-old girl working towards getting over her traumatic past, and moving forward with her life. That means leaving the safety she’s found at the Evil Dead MC’s clubhouse, and returning to school and an apartment on campus.

Last thing she wants is her new biker bodyguard to think she’s a scared little child. So she bluffs her way through situations, pretending to be tough and fearless, when in reality she’s the complete opposite.

Holly can’t stand Joker—but tell that to her traitorous body.
Why did he have to be so good looking?
Why did he have to be the one to make her feel again?
And why did he have to be the one man she can’t have?

JOKER—
He has no idea what he’s done to earn the crap job of being this little brat’s new shadow, but he’s not about to let the president of his MC down. Joker was given one stipulation, she’s off limits. Holly may be a brat, but she’s also beautiful—and keeping his hands off her may be the death of him.

Joker isn’t about to stand for Holly’s bratty behavior. And he’s definitely not going to take any disrespect from her. For every stunt she pulls, he’s right there to drag her out of trouble and rein her in.

She was just a brat, until he saw her vulnerable side.
She was just a tough little smartass, until he saw the fear she hid.
She was just a job, until she wasn’t.

• MINI REVIEW •

A hate to love romance between two young leads. There’s a lot of fun and games, and banter in this storyline but the serious subjects within is what makes this book have depth in their budding relationship. Joker and Holly went from tolerating one another to truly needing each other.

Holly may have been bratty and immature at the beginning, but there’s reasoning behind that and the fact the Joker took the time and effort to help her work through it and move on really showed that he was more than just a club member doing what he was told.

A sweet story, and despite their young love, it had intensity, vulnerability, and passion that matches the rest of the romances in this series.

 HAMMER

• BLURB •

A badass biker and the sexy little sprite that wants nothing to do with him. They’re opposites in every way that matters-except one-they can’t keep their eyes off each other.

Hammer watches Tink strut past him without so much as a glance. His eyes moving over her hot little body-a body that’s been driving him crazy and keeping him awake at night.

She’s the one chick he’s been infatuated with for months, but she won’t give him the time of day. Hammer just doesn’t get it. After all, he’s a big, muscular man who turns female heads wherever he goes. Tattoos cover the skin of his sculpted body, and that combined with being a patched member of the Evil Dead MC does it for most women who are into bad boys. Not Tink, though.

Unfortunately for Hammer, the one woman he wants more than any other seems to be immune to him. Well, he’s had about enough of her snubbing him like he doesn’t even exist. He’s going after what he wants, and what he wants more than anything is that hot little girl with the short white-blonde hair. The one so petite, the guys in the club nicknamed her Tinker Bell. Yes, that sexy little sprite is going to be his.

Tink is totally aware of Hammer’s eyes on her as she walks past. Warmth floods her body, like it does every time she’s near him and he looks at her that way-like he’s undressing her with his eyes and imagining all the sordid things he’d like to do to her. Things she lies awake at night imagining as well. But Tink isn’t willing to risk her heart; not for a man who could hurt her like he could, a man who has already been with her sister. Raven always gets what she wants, and that’s usually anything she thinks Tink might want. Tink learned long ago not to even try to compete with her sister. It’s pointless. So, she’s carved out a life for herself surrounded by the men of this MC and the women who have become her best friends. It’s a world she thought her sister would never be interested in, and one where she’ll never have to compete with her.

Apparently, she’d thought wrong.

What happens when a badass biker wants the one woman he can’t have? How far will he go to have her?

• MINI REVIEW •

After reading the blurb for Hammer’s story, I instantly thought it sounded adorable… and guess what? It was! I’m obsessed with the fact that Hammer has always had a thing for Tink but she’s always just kind of avoided him like a plague. Lol. This book was his opportunity to finally try and get closer to Tink. There’s a lot of miscommunication and trust issues with these two, but this story was also light-hearted and endearing. I love that they are complete opposites — Hammer is a tatted-up biker, built like a tank, and can pretty much have any woman (except for Tink, that is). Tink is this teeny tiny pixie-like woman who happens to work behind the bar at their clubhouse and has seen what these brothers are like when women are around.

Like all the previous books in the series, there are always underlying issues and hurdles each couple goes through. Hammer is no different. Besides Tink trying to fight off her attraction for Hammer, they both have family issues they need to deal with. Hammer’s personal story is the standout for me though. Another amazing addition to the series, and at this point, these books have become guilty pleasure reads! 😅

I’m #currentlyreading Nicole James newest release — Dirty Deeds, first book in her new series Devil Kings MC (if you’ve read the Evil Dead MC series then you’ll know that Devil Kings are a rival MC).

I wanted to post this short review/ rating of each book in the original series that way you guys have a reference you can go back to when I have my review up for Dirty Deeds.

Shots

The Evil Dead MC is a dark gritty, yet swoony romance series that centres around members of a motorcycle club. Each can be read as standalones but I recommend reading them in order because the world-building gets more in-depth the further you read on, and characters tend to make appearances in each others books– and you wouldn’t want to miss any interesting developments in their lives, trust me! 😉 If you’re a fan of MC romances and would recommend some, please do! Always looking for more to add to my TBR!

⚠ But I should mention that these books do contain subjects that may trigger some readers. Whilst it’s not overly detailed or graphic — profanity, violence, physical and sexual abuse, and kidnapping is present. Readers 18+ only!
