Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Anna is looking forward to her senior year in Atlanta, where she has a great job, a loyal best friend, and a crush on the verge of becoming more. Which is why she is less than thrilled about being shipped off to boarding school in Paris–until she meets Étienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Étienne has it all…including a serious girlfriend.

But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with their long-awaited French kiss?

I haven’t read much YA contemporary/ romance books (as I usually stick to fantasy fiction) and this was one of the few that intrigued me.

So I got a copy.

I had the intention of reading this for Valentines Day (hence my loved up pic) but didn’t actually end up starting it til the following day. But the minute I started it, I didn’t want to put it down. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve cracked up laughing at a situation or something Anna had said or thought about. I can relate to how Anna thinks. I found myself thinking or saying something out loud to find out a second later that Anna was saying or thinking it too. Ahh love it! Stephanie Perkins hit the mark! The way she wrote the story, and the characters seem so real for a work of fiction. I love the pace of the story – it was just go go go! and there was not a single dull or boring moment for me.

Anna – is hilarious! The way she thinks in a situation (whether with a guy or with her friends and family) is exactly how I would. Which makes her as character all the more realistic to me. Because there are people out there just like Anna and I’m one of them! Lol. 😁 If Anna was a real person, we would definitely be friends. We think so much alike. 😅

(Oh P.S. I would totally suck at French too) I’m pretty sure I butchered the pronunciation of the very few French lines included in the book) luckily I was reading it in my mind and not out loud #sosorry

Etienne St. Clair – OMG! He is perfect! Not only as boyfriend material but generally as a friend. If I ever meet a guy like him, I would be so lucky. Sadly in my reality, Etienne is very much a fictional character. (He is my reminder that this is a work of fiction.. FIC-TION!) 😜

I cannot say enough good things about him. He’s funny, sweet, thoughtful, caring… he’s just… *Inhales* perfecttttt! *Exhales* I even like the fact that he’s not typically tall like how the leading man is usually described in other books or movies. It’s a nice change.

Love love love love this book!! I had the biggest, cheesiest grin on my face from start to finish. I’ll definitely be checking out the other two books in the series and when I’m done, I’ll be checking out more work from Stephanie Perkins coz she is now one of my favourite contemporary romance authors in the YA genre. 😁

I’m so glad I read this! I have nothing bad to say about it. I highly recommend it if you haven’t checked it out yet!

RATING: ♥♥♥♥♥/5
